Europe installed 12.5 GW of wind in 2016
As reported by Wind Energy, in 2016, Europe installed a total of 12.5 GW of wind capacity, around 3% less than in 2015. According to Wind Energy, with an overall installed capacity of 153.7 GW, wind installed capacities now overtake coal units as the second largest power generation technology.
