RWE unable to pay out dividends


In 2016,the Germany-based utility recorded a net loss and booked impairments worth €4.3 billion. As reported by Bloomberg, during the past 3 years, Germany's largest utilities had to write down over €30 billion worth of assets. Difficulties arose due to declining electricity prices and a surge of renewables for which some utilities did not prepare well.
