GE to finish revitalisation of Nikola Tesla
General Electric (GE) Power Services released a statement regarding its plans to complete the modernisation of the Nikola Tesla thermal power plant during 2017. The project involves steam turbine retrofitting (expected completion by May), equipment upgrade with special regard to the WT23S-106 generator unit (expected completion by October) and turbine control system. Steam turbine retrofit will extend the operating lifetime by 100,000 hours and increase capacity by 24 MW. TPP Nikola Tesla is owned by EPS forming the TENT power complex along with TPP Morava and TPP Kolubara. It consists of two 208 MW Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod (LMZ) turbines and four 308 MW GE turbines. With 1,500 MW it is the largest coal-fired unit in Serbia and one of the largest in the region.
