Global wind additions at 54 GW in 2016
Global Wind Energy Council report revealed a 54 GW increase in world wind capacity in 2016, somewhat less than in 2015. Overall global installed capacity is approximated at 487 GW. Growth in 2016 was led by China (23.3 GW), USA (8.2 GW), Germany (5.4 GW) and India (3.6 GW) with France, Turkey and Netherlands recording significant surges in wind capacities as well.
