CEDIS to invest €78 million in distribution network

Montenegro based distribution system operator Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem (CEDIS), announced plans to invest €78 million in the development and rehabilitation of the distribution grid in the next three years. The investment is backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with a 12-year loan worth €32 million. CEDIS plans to continue implementing smart meters and optimising its operation following the formal separation from the main Montenegrin utility - Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG). The separation was finalised in June 2016 in line with the country's Energy Law and following EU directives. Smart metering project started in Montenegro in 2011. Approximately 250,000 smart meters were installed so far, while a further 45,000 is planned to be installed by 2019.
