42 MW Alibunar wind farm starts operation in Serbia

Belgian developer Elicio completed the construction of a 42 MW wind farm in close vicinity of the Serbian capital, Belgrade. The farm consists of 21 turbines, 2 MW each. Turbines are provided by the German supplier Senvion. Investment costs are reported at €80 million. Alibunar will be the third wind farm to start production in Serbia. It is part of Serbia’s ambitious plans of increasing the share of renewable energy sources in its generation mix.

Large scale deployment of wind power plants will be continued in the following months as two additional wind farms are expected to start production: 105 MW WPP Kovačica and 100 MW of WPP Čibuk 1.Wind farm Čibuk 1, having an overall installed capacity of 158 MW is set to become the largest in the country. The €300 million project is owned by Masdar, Taaleri Energia and DEG, while GE Renewable Energy is selected as the EPC.
