Preparatory construction works begin at Tuzla 7

Construction is to set to start at the 450 MW thermal power plant project of Tuzla 7. Preparatory works should last during a period of 12 months, after which China Gezhouba Group, the EPC contractor, will begin the commissioning process of the new block. Construction should last for 48 months. The unit is to be operational by the end of 2024 and should replace existing blocks 3, 4 and 5.
The investment is estimated at €722.35 million and is to be realized by a €613 million credit line supported by Government guarantees. Energy community of South East Europe (SEE) has no objections to the unit itself, but finds Government backing distortive to the energy market.
Additionally, desulphurization system is to be installed at the Block 6 of TPP Tuzla allowing it to continue its operation for the time being.
