Croatia keeps ownership of HEP's hydro components
Croatian ownership will be retained for the already constructed reservoirs, supply and drainage channels and tunnels to ensure continuity of the water flow. HEP will acquire the right of construction on parts of existing hydroelectric facilities built on public waters for 99 years, without compensation. Legal right of management will be acquired over accumulations, inlet and drainage channels and the land under them, during the construction process. In the case of constructing a new hydro power plant, a potential investor has limited options, all of which include the Republic of Croatia to be the owner of accumulations, inlet and drainage tunnels. The Law on waters is available on the pages of the Croatian Government (link).
